Americom is the premier utility construction services provider in the western region providing directional drilling, plowing, trenching, spider plowing, hydro excavation, micro trenching, fast fusion, fiber optics and general underground utility construction.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

Join a team of skilled electricians to install, repair, and maintain a variety of electrical systems. Provide safe conditions, and operation for all electrical fixtures and systems in district facilities.

 

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Repair electrical issues by replacing or installing components, wiring or devices.
  • Be able to test electrical systems using tools that include voltmeters, oscilloscopes and ohmmeters to determine where issues may be occurring, the safety of the system and to ensure compatibility.
  • Be able to diagnose a situation and know the steps to take to resolve the issue for each job or situation.
  • Able to assess an electrical situation using testing devices, blueprints, and maps.
  • Follow OSHA safety requirements and also report violations of policies, and procedures and guidelines immediately to supervisor.
  • Know what to do in case of an emergency, and how to help others.
  • Inspect electrical components including transformers and circuit breakers.
  • Complete work on time.
  • Demonstrate high integrity, honesty, and trust.
  • Be safety conscious and abide by company safety policies.
  • Read, understand and follow the company policies and procedures.
  • Attend all scheduled work-related training.
  • Able to read construction print and other job-related documentation
  • Oral and written skills and ability to communicate with other workers, craftsman, and other trades
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to travel out of town during the week and/or weekends
  • Able to work with basic hand tools i.e.; screw driver, electric drill, etc.
  • Administration and recordkeeping – timecards, change orders, material delivery, truck tickets, plan review/verification, scheduling, equipment rental/return, etc.
  • General material, equipment and tool inventory, tracking and control – indoors and/or outdoors.
  • Inspections (random and scheduled) for day/night jobsite and building security at job sites, yards, storage areas, offices, fabrication shops, mechanic shops and other work locations.
  • Vehicle and equipment inspections, compliance checks and recordkeeping.
  • Vehicle and equipment preventative/scheduled maintenance.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Able to perform inspections and maintenance on electrical systems to ensure safety and functionality.
  • Follow all applicable requirements, including safety standards and local codes.
  • Decipher diagrams, blueprints and other related drawings.

 

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Journeyman License
  • Proficiency with the National Electrical Code and local codes
  • Have previous experience working on commercial and residential electrical systems
  • Identify wires accurately
  • Must have own transportation to and from work sites.
  • Able to follow directions and work independently
  • Must have a valid Utah Driver’s License.
  • Must have clean driving record
  • Must be able to work in a drug free work environment and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to pass a level 3 background check
  • Follow all safety requirements
  • Able to read blueprints
  • Able to problem solve
  • Strong work ethic

EDUCATION:

 

  • Completion of Electrical Apprentice Program
  • Electrical Journeyman License

 

EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Have previous experience working on commercial and residential electrical systems
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working as a Journeyman Electrician.
