CABLE INSTALLER POSITIONS

Entry Level, Installer I, Installer II, and Installer III

Pay Range $13.00 - $23.00 (DOE)

Americom Technology Inc. is one of the largest providers of Telecom Services in the Intermountain West. We have over 35 years of experience and are presently seeking a qualified Fiber Splicer to handle our OSP splicing needs. We are one of Utah’s expert telecom contractors, serving the needs of customers as large as the State of Utah, the University of Utah and BYU. Founded in 1981 as United Cable Telephone, Inc., Americom has grown into a state-of-the-art, progressive, $20 million company. Americom is now headquartered in a new, larger facility in West Valley City serving customers in Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, Nevada, Colorado, California, and Texas.

These positions are involved in the installation of high end communications cabling infrastructures and will play a key role in the build out of technology systems that encompass voice, data, and video over copper, fiber optics and wireless. Americom is willing to train the right applicant for an entry level position. Any applicant who is an experienced technician is encouraged to apply and may qualify for a Tech I, II, or III position with compensation for experience. This position will require:

• Technicians to be safety conscious and abide by company safety polices.
• Demonstrate high integrity, honesty and trust.
• Will be required to climb and work off ladders, as well as work in confined spaces.
• Must be able to work with basic hand tools and will be required to have certain tools.
• Installation and testing of pressurized and non-pressurized closures on all types and sizes of cable.
• Ability to work within and collaborate in a team environment.
• May be required to have dependable (own) transportation to and from job sites.
• Certifications in BICSI, Corning, Siemon, or Comscope, will help qualify for Tech II and III positions.
• Be familiar and able to read construction prints and other documentation.
• Qualified technicians will be able to terminate and test copper, coax, and fiber optic cable.
• Qualified technicians will be required to mentor and train those who are learning the trade.
• A fearless can do, positive attitude with a strong work ethic that can provide high productivity.

Qualifications:

• Tech I will need 1 year experience, Tech II will need 2-3 years’ experience and a Tech III will need 4-5 years’ experience.
• Ability to lift up to 90 lbs.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills .
• Safety conscious.
• Must have a valid Utah driver’s license with a clean driving record to drive company vehicles.
• Must be able to pass a level 4 background check to work in many of our off-site locations.
