Equipment Operator, Directional Driller, Locator

Pay Range $13.00 - $27.00 (DOE)

Americom Technology Inc. is one of the largest providers of Telecom Services in the Intermountain West. Headquartered in West Valley City, Utah, we service customers throughout Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, Nevada, Colorado, California, and Texas.

Americom has a need for experienced Equipment Operators/Drillers/Locators. We utilize backhoes, Ditch Witch Directional Drills, mini excavators, mud trucks, vac trucks/trailers, etc. If you’re tired of layoffs and want job security with a reputable company, we want to talk to you. This position will require:

• Demonstrate high integrity, honesty and trust.
• Must currently have or being willing to obtain a Class A Utah license.
• Must attend scheduled safety meetings as well as competent person training, MSHA, and OSHA training.
• Possess general knowledge of construction practices and be familiar with equipment, including routine service and maintenance. Service maintenance includes, but is not limited to washing, check fluids, tire pressures, grease, etc.
• Respect the importance of ensuring Company assets (vehicles, equipment, tools, materials, etc.); are properly and continuously maintained in good repair and secured in a safe and secure manner.
• Ability to read blueprints, and familiarity with Blue Stakes and the identification of marked utilities.
• Organization of material and other resources is necessary to complete excavation requirements, which may include basic hand tools.
• Advanced knowledge within assigned area of expertise such as directional drilling, excavation, trenching, and fiber optic installation. Knowledge and experience with traffic control, design, and set up/tear down a plus.
• Have knowledge of utility depths and placement.
• Ability to work within and collaborate in a team environment.
• May be required to have dependable (own) transportation to and from job sites.
• Qualified operators will be required to mentor and train those who are learning the trade.
• A fearless can do, positive attitude with a strong work ethic that can provide high productivity.

Qualifications:

• Directional drillers and equipment operators must have a minimum of 2 years operating equipment. Entry level positions can be trained and may be hired with no experience.
• Ability to lift up to 90 lbs.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Safety conscious and abide by company safety policies.
• Must have a valid Utah driver’s license with a clean driving record to drive company vehicles.
• Must be able to pass a level 4 background check to work in many of our off-site locations.
