MASTER ELECTRICIAN
 

 

Americom Technology LLC (Americom) is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team in our Inside Plant (ISP) department. ISP is responsible for all telecommunications equipment and infrastructure related to low- and high-voltage systems located inside a commercial facility.

JOB SUMMARY

 

The Master Electrician is a licensed expert responsible for leading and managing the full scope of the Electrical Department. This includes overseeing day-to-day operations, supervising field crews, ensuring code compliance, and aligning the department with company goals. The Master Electrician drives operational excellence through workforce planning, financial oversight, safety leadership, and technical expertise. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality electrical services across commercial and industrial projects.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Oversee and manage the daily operations of the Electrical Department, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
  • Direct the department’s financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control to ensure profitability.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans and initiatives to drive departmental growth and operational improvement.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs), job costing, and project metrics using ERP systems (e.g., ComputerEase, Smartsheet).
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on business development, estimating, backlog management, and pipeline forecasting.
  • Lead departmental staffing plans including recruitment, onboarding, and performance management.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and safety programs to ensure efficient and consistent service delivery.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and employee engagement across all levels of the department.
  • Supervise, mentor, and provide technical guidance to journeyman and apprentice electricians.
  • Ensure all installations and repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with the NEC and local/state codes.
  • Interpret and verify blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings.
  • Plan and coordinate field operations, ensuring timely execution of all electrical work across various projects.
  • Perform quality control checks and final inspections on completed work.
  • Conduct or delegate site inspections to ensure safety, compliance, and work standards.
  • Manage and maintain electrical tools, vehicles, and equipment inventory.
  • Provide hands-on support for complex troubleshooting, testing, and system commissioning.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, clients, and inspectors to ensure project success.

 

 

EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Valid Master Electrician License (State of Utah required).
  • 8+ years of experience in commercial and industrial, and electrical work.
  • 3+ years of leadership or departmental management experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), OSHA standards, and local codes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Smartsheet, and job costing software (e.g., ComputerEase).
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Valid Utah Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and Level 3 background check.
  • Ability to lift up to 90 lbs., work at heights, and operate in confined spaces and variable weather conditions.
  • Willingness to travel for projects and work flexible hours including weekends if needed.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

  • Frequent lifting and carrying of up to 90 lbs.
  • Regular work on ladders, lifts, and in confined or elevated spaces.
  • Field-based work across a variety of indoor and outdoor construction environments.
  • Exposure to extreme weather conditions, dust, and high-noise environments.
  • Availability to travel regionally and work extended hours or weekends when required.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

 

  • Leads and manages the Electrical Department, including field electricians, apprentices, and administrative support.
  • Oversees performance evaluations, mentoring, and succession planning within the department.
