At Americom you will be involved in the installation of high-end communications cabling infrastructures. You will play a key role in the build out and placement of technology systems that encompass voice, data, and video over Copper, Fiber optics and wireless.

Americom is currently seeking an experienced Vac Truck Operator to run a Hydro Vac Truck which will accompany many of our larger projects. Many of these projects are out-of-town and applicants should expect to work out-of-town for a few weeks at a time.

Job Information

As a Vac. Truck Operator, you are responsible for running, maintenance,, and overall knowledge of the Vac. Truck. The individual in this position is required to work at all times with safety in mind. Must be able to:

  • Read, understand, and follow company policies and procedures and Safety policy and procedures
  • Attend all scheduled safety meetings, as well as competent person training, MSHA, and OSHA.
  • Must possess a valid Utah Class A CDL license, and be both insured and insurable. Tanker endorsement is required.
  • Americom is a licensed State contractor; ALL employees must pass a Level 4 background check.
  • Must have at least three years of experience with a hydro or vac truck,

As the vac. truck operator, individual must have experience:

  • Operating equipment in both standard and high-risk areas, such as, live utilities, with knowledge of utility depths and placement.
  • Possess general knowledge of construction practices and familiarity with equipment, including routine service and maintenance; washing, check fluids, tire pressures, grease, etc.
  • Ability to read blueprints, and familiarity with Blue Stakes and the identification of marked utilities.
  • Organization of material and other resources is necessary to complete project requirements, which may include basic hand tools.
  • At times, you may be required to work in confined spaces, including; trenches, manholes, tunnels, closets, crawlspaces.

Physical Requirements

The minimum physical requirements that you must meet in order to perform Equipment Operator duties are as follows:

  • The ability to climb up and down ladders, scaffoldings, and lifts.
  • Must be able to lift 80 lbs. from floor and above head,
  • Have general knowledge and ability to identify and use basic hand tools.
  • Ability to work in ALL weather conditions; this includes extreme temperatures ranging from -30° to +120°.
  • At times, you may be required to work in trenches, manholes, tunnels, closets, and crawlspaces.
