The Estimator is responsible for development of estimates and proposals for Americom existing and/or new customers. The position will offer support to various sales activities. The Estimator will negotiate with vendors, engineer solutions if applicable, attend walk through, prepare proposals, and may be required to present proposals from time to time. The Estimator is accountable for achieving results, motivating self and others to overcome adversity and achieve long term strategic goals of the company.

OBJECTIVE

  • Review construction plans, specification, survey documents, technical analyses, and schedules to determine the scope of needs for proper estimating of project cost.
  • Complete a risk assessment of all project opportunities and define cost associated with those risks.
  • Define Scope of Work and associated cost for assembled construction units. Understand the relationship between these assembled construction units to propose a complete project bid package.
  • Communicate and negotiate with vendors for best pricing to keep estimating within the scope of winning projects. This will involve working with multiple vendors to assemble the best cost for our customer proposals.
  • Maintain the highest degree of professionalism and integrity in representing Americom Technology.
  • Understand the current construction market, competitive environment, raw goods trends, and vendor community for adjustments in project costing structure as these environments change.
  • Adapt to new and different situations and can take direction with positive results.
  • Create, understand, and develop technical writing with grammatical efficiency.
  • Keep current on advancements in technology and industry standards.
  • Understand and comply with sales systems in place.
  • Must be highly organized, detail oriented with the ability to multi task with information coming from multiple resources.
  • Must be able to decipher information from multiple sources, and communicate information back to numerous parties.

Administrative Process

  • Communicate effectively with Senior Management, Sales Team, Operations, and support staff, informing and updating regularly to ensure that sales and customer objectives are met or exceeded.
  • Ensure applicable databases and systems are regularly updated and kept current related to customers, quote activity, opportunities, sales funnel, etc.
  • Provide collaborative input on strategic sales plan, and partnering/joint sales strategies.

Qualifications

  • Prior knowledge of Telecommunications/Outside Plant Construction related to Utilities desired.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to read and interpret various construction drawings
  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications
  • Proficient in Microsoft products, especially Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge in construction based programs a plus.
  • Valid State motor vehicle operator’s license.
  • Practical field experience a must
