Americom Technologies Inc. is looking for A highly motivated individual to join our team as an underground utility’s construction Foreman. Americom is the premier utility construction services provider in the western region providing directional drilling, plowing, trenching, spider plowing, hydro excavation, micro trenching, fast fusion, fiber optics and general underground utility construction.

Americom is growing and is looking to build additional crews, seeking qualified and experienced personnel to fulfill full-time positions in the Salt Lake City area.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The underground utility foreman performs a lead person role in operations involving underground utility construction including telecommunications infrastructure, the Foreman is responsible for managing approximately 3-5 employees, assigning job responsibilities, meeting with inspectors, laying out work, keeping job on schedule, performing regular performance evaluations and communicating company goals and expectations, while directing, coaching and training personnel assigned to the crew, and providing regular updates to superintendents and management via written daily reports, e-mail, phone conversations, and meetings. Also performs additional duties as assigned.

  • Ensure optimal and efficient use of all available resources, to include crew, equipment, supplies, and materials
  • Manage, supervise, and produce quality work that meets or exceeds productivity goals
  • Ensure safe equipment operation, tools, and conditions on all sites
  • Work closely with Project Superintendents to make necessary labor and resource adjustments
  • Provide fair and consistent coaching of operators and laborers, leading by example at all times
  • Use strong and effective communication skills at all levels
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships through constant communication
  • Plan and lay-out work. Ensure project specific needs are acquired prior to work starting.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the project plans, specifications and schedules as they relate to the project assigned. Review with crews throughout the project to ensure proper execution.
  • Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost saving measures that arise or that may be encountered and report to Superintendent to take corrective actions as needed.
  • Inspect work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, identify deficiencies and take corrective action needed.
  • Track and capture quantities completed on the project and review for accuracy and report to Superintendent.
  • Identify safety hazards and take necessary corrective action
  • Perform task planning to safely and efficiently carry out all aspects of the project assigned.
  • Monitor quality of work and assure that correct construction procedures are followed, and that work is in compliance with the plans and specifications.
  • Monitor and report productivity rates and assure the production meets the project schedule constraints.
  • Manage crew to ensure productivity requirements are maintained or exceeded.
  • Have a working knowledge of scheduling, material control, unit man hour performance.
  • Keeps work site neat and orderly
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the Project Superintendent/Manager or other Operations Management (other duties as assigned.)

 

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of three years Foreman/supervisory experience in similar construction technology
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and motor vehicle history record that meet company insurance requirements.
  • Basic Math Skills
  • Basic computer skills, to maintain project logs and reports
  • ALL employees must pass a Level 4 background check
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening (will be subject to random drug screenings)
  • Must be able to work long hours
  • Ability to travel as required
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions
