POSITION SUMMARY

The ICT Estimator - ISP Construction prepares accurate, competitive estimates and proposals for low-voltage and ISP construction projects. This role supports the preconstruction process from bid review and quantity takeoffs through labor and material pricing, scope development, and proposal preparation.

Working closely with sales, project management, and operations, the Estimator helps ensure each proposal is complete, compliant, competitive, and aligned with project requirements and margin goals. The ideal candidate brings 3+ years of relevant estimating experience, sound technical judgment, and the ability to identify gaps or concerns in plans and specifications.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Estimating Leadership

  • Manage estimating activities for low-voltage and ICT projects.
  • Review bid opportunities for scope, risk, contract requirements, and profitability.
  • Develop detailed labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor estimates.
  • Ensure estimates align with historical job cost data and margin targets.
  • Support consistent estimating methods, processes, and templates.
  • Review plans and bid documents, develop takeoffs, assess installation and labor requirements, and identify potential scope or specification issues.

Proposal Development

  • Prepare clear, complete proposals, including scope, pricing, exclusions, assumptions, and required compliance documentation.
  • Collaborate with sales, project management, operations, and leadership to validate scope, pricing, and proposal accuracy.
  • Ensure proposals meet RFP, RFI/RFQ, and customer specifications.

Pricing & Cost Control

  • Establish pricing strategies aligned with company objectives and market conditions.
  • Maintain vendor pricing, labor rates, and cost databases.
  • Support value engineering efforts to improve competitiveness while protecting margins.
  • Assist leadership with bid/no-bid analysis and risk assessment.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with sales, project management, and operations throughout the estimating process and support a smooth handoff from award to execution.
  • Provide technical input on plans and specifications and flag scope gaps, risks, or constructability concerns.
  • Use post-award results and job-cost data to improve estimating accuracy, competitiveness, and margin performance.
  • Support creation and delivery of updated As-Builts and other closeout documentation reflecting project changes.

EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience considered. RCDD is preferred; DCDC or relevant BICSI credentials are also valued.
  • 3+ years of relevant estimating experience, preferably in ICT, low-voltage, structured cabling, ISP, or technology systems.
  • Proven experience preparing competitive bids and proposals for commercial, industrial, or technology infrastructure projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of structured cabling, ISP infrastructure, fiber, copper, and access control, including takeoffs, labor productivity, material costs, and project requirements. Experience with CCTV, AV, DAS, or data center environments is preferred.
  • Proficiency with estimating and digital takeoff software.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.

COMPENSATION

  • Base salary: $65,000-$95,000 DOE, plus eligibility for up to a 10% bonus. Final compensation will reflect relevant experience, technical expertise, and certifications.

  • Occasional job site visits to support estimating accuracy.
