CABLE TECHNICIAN II
Americom Technology LLC (Americom) is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team in our Inside Plant (ISP) department. ISP is responsible for all telecommunications equipment and infrastructure related to low- and high-voltage systems located inside a commercial facility.

JOB SUMMARY
The Cable Technician II supports the installation and servicing of advanced structured cabling systems for commercial and data environments. This position assists the Lead Technician with a range of duties that include voice, data, and video system installations over copper, fiber optics, and wireless infrastructure. This role requires a working knowledge of BICSI standards, basic system integration, and the ability to independently execute assigned tasks in compliance with company safety and quality standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Install and terminate copper, fiber optic, and coaxial cabling systems according to BICSI and industry best practices.
- Assist in the deployment of wireless access points, A/V systems, CCTV, and access control systems.
- Test and troubleshoot cable systems using appropriate tools and procedures.
- Interpret and follow construction drawings, specifications, and job documentation.
- Provide physical labor to support installation, routing, and termination of structured cabling systems.
- Adhere to company safety policies and participate in daily safety practices including job hazard analysis (JHA).
- Communicate effectively with team members, other trades, supervisors, and clients.
- Operate hand and power tools including drills, testers, punch-down tools, and diagnostic devices.
- Maintain and use the following hand tools and personal gear: cable snips, Phillips and flathead screwdrivers, a torpedo level, a tool pouch, a tone and probe set, a telephone butt set, a punch down tool, a cordless drill, and a continuity/pair tester.
- Support job site logistics, including material deliveries, equipment transport, and job documentation (e.g., time cards, change orders).
- Participate in company training programs, which include on-the-job equipment and task training, in-person and classroom safety instruction, and online safety and compliance courses.
- Perform general job site tasks including cleanup, raking, shoveling, and material handling.
- Conduct vehicle and equipment inspections, routine maintenance, and documentation.
- Assist with site security, tool tracking, and inventory control at job sites and company facilities.
- Maintain clean and orderly work areas both indoors and outdoors.
- Complete other duties as assigned in support of project schedules and departmental goals.
EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in structured cabling or low-voltage system installation.
- Familiarity with BICSI standards and telecommunications infrastructure practices.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid Utah driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work sites.
- Strong technical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift up to 90 lbs. and work at heights on ladders and lifts.
- Capable of working in confined spaces, climbing stairs and ladders, and performing repetitive physical tasks.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and Level 3 background check.
- Excellent communication skills and commitment to team-based project execution.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to follow detailed installation instructions.

- Indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to extreme heat, cold, noise, and construction activity.
- Must be able to work in physically demanding conditions for extended periods.
