PROJECT MANAGER – Low Voltage Technology and Information Services

 

Local Company is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as an Technology Project Manager. We are a premier technology services provider in the western region providing structure cable systems, audio video solutions, access controls, close circuit tv solutions, network, unified communication, and desktop support, wireless solutions, and all low voltages application solutions.

The Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring the safety of workers, managing the project budget, trouble-shooting unexpected problems and delivering a final product that meets project plans and specifications and client expectations. The job includes both hands-on and administrative duties. The Project Manager will work closely with our partner alliance to provide resources to provide the defined solutions to the client’s application needs.

 

Performs essential functions to ensure overall customer satisfaction and quality service and establishes and maintains effective communication with all entities involved in the project. Responsible for the effective and efficient job procurement of materials.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with the client's team from the start of each project to ensure you understand the project scope and vision and that this is alignment with the client’s expectation for a success result.
  • Read and understand project plans and, bid documents and contracts
  • Review project specifications, drawings, and create Subcontractors scope of work
  • Analyze bids by Subcontractors, Alliance Partners, and material vendors
  • Oversee the startup of each project
  • Create detailed project schedules to monitor and track progress which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project.
  • Act as master scheduler for assigned projects. Responsible for project prioritization and resource leveling.
  • Create recovery plans and schedules to mitigate the impact of unforeseen events.
  • Coordinate with cross discipline team members to make sure that all parties are on track with project requirements, deadlines, and schedules.
  • Monitor the progress of the project and adjust as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project.
  • Construction track - must understand scope, schedule work, communicate professionally, ensure project safety, and maintain quality control
  • Prepare and issue subcontracts, purchase orders and change orders
  • Process change orders
  • Collaborate with the client and construction crew to ensure feasibility of each project milestone
  • Negotiate with vendors, suppliers and subcontractors
  • Select, measure and track important project metrics and milestones
  • Visit job sites, attend and participate in pre-construction meetings, other project progress meetings as necessary, company supervisor and production meetings
  • Perform analysis of collected data and metrics
  • Analyze job cost reports
  • Prepare relevant and reliable project budgets, projections and forecasts
  • Conduct job risk analysis activities
  • Analyze and evaluate subcontractor and partners performance
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with field personnel supervisors, key vendors, public and private jurisdictions, subcontractors, owners etc.
  • Effectively communicate and maintain relationships with Clients, Management, Superintendents, Subcontractors, Vendors, Partners, and other trades to ensure project schedule and budget are met
  • Prepare and manage project budgets
  • Prepare, submit and obtain required approvals for monthly payment applications in accordance with contract requirements
  • Review and approve Subcontractor application for payment/invoices
  • Accurate and effective document control, management, and distribution
  • Provide leadership and motivation to the project team
  • Timely prepare and submit all project set up and close out documentation
  • Utilizing the scheduling software and with the assistance of the Superintendent, prepare and update the project schedule
  • Collaborate with the Superintendents regarding construction activities
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope and within budget.
  • Host meetings with project team members to identify and resolve issues.
  • Prepare status reports by gathering, analyzing and summarizing relevant information. Present project status to management team. Escalate critical issues to management as needed.
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs. Ensure all impacts are captured and change orders are executed.
  • Collaborate with Sales team to define the production forecast and demand flow for new projects.
  • Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of project goals using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Participate in project financial reviews and adjust project constraints based on financial analysis.
  • Perform strategic planning, risk management and/or process improvements.
  • Communicate with suppliers and clients with any unforeseen issues or changes
  • Must continually advance knowledge of current and upcoming construction practices and industry standards
  • Review daily requirements of the projects
  • Provide appropriate field documentation, photo logs, graphs and sketches for various projects
  • Report time worked and equipment and consumables used timely and accurately
  • Leads Superintendents and Subcontractors daily
  • Update project trackers daily
  • Document progress and notify management of progress and challenges/risks
  • Update the job cost estimate and schedule of values upon approval of a change order
  • Direct the project closeout process to ensure that all contractual obligations are met within the timeframes outlined in the contract documents
  • Be constantly aware of project closeout and be able to identify and mitigate risks as they are presented that could negatively impact any aspect of project closeout
  • Establish core project management capabilities at this level. Critical skills include time management, budgeting, scheduling, supervising, customer contact, communication, quality control, safety, documentation and change orders

Project Manager Skills:

  • Construction scheduling, cost control, and ability to control and supervise large groups
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with personnel at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent leadership, managerial, and mentoring skills
  • Professional demeanor and ability to interact with individuals at all levels
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Establish core project management capabilities at this level. Critical skills include time management, budgeting, scheduling, site supervision, customer contact, communication, quality control, safety, documentation, and change orders
  • Must be able to read project plans/schematics etc., construction contracts, specifications, subcontracts and other construction documents.
  • Ability to initiate and maintain business relationships – including working effectively with owners, engineers, co-workers, subcontractors, suppliers, and the public.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and motor vehicle history record that meet company insurance requirements.
  • Basic Math Skills
  • Basic computer skills, to maintain project logs and reports, Excel, Word, Office 365, Team, Share Point, CRM, Blue Beam, Auto Cad, Internet etc.
  • ALL employees must pass a Level 4 background check
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening (will be subject to random drug screenings)
  • Must be able to work long hours
  • Ability to travel as required
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions to include construction and industrial sites.

This is a full-time position, with the requirement of a high school diploma or GED as a minimum. A capable candidate would also possess one or more of the following credentials: Register Communications Distribution Design (RCDD), Project Manager Professional (PMP), Construction Management (CM), Facilities Management (FM), Electrical Engineer (BSE)
