Americom Technology LLC (Americom) is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team in our Inside Plant (ISP) department. ISP is responsible for all telecommunications equipment and infrastructure related to low- and high-voltage systems located inside a commercial facility.

JOB SUMMARY

 

The Cable Technician III is a senior-level field technician responsible for supporting the installation, service, and integration of high-performance structured cabling systems. This position plays a key role in deploying voice, data, and video networks across copper, fiber optic, coaxial, and wireless media. The Cable Technician III brings advanced technical skills, field experience, and industry certifications to ensure quality, safety, and efficiency on all job sites. This individual works closely with the Lead Technician to manage jobsite tasks and support project goals.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Install and test structured cabling systems including copper, fiber optic, and coax, in accordance with BICSI standards and manufacturer specifications.
  • Support deployment of A/V, CCTV, wireless, and access control systems in commercial environments.
  • Perform advanced cable termination, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Interpret and execute work based on construction drawings, specifications, and site documentation.
  • Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently while maintaining a required personal tool set that includes cable snips, Phillips and flathead screwdrivers, a torpedo level, a tool pouch, a tone and probe set, a telephone butt set, a punch down tool, a cordless drill, and a continuity/pair tester.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and site-specific safety protocols.
  • Communicate professionally with team members, foremen, general contractors, and other trades.
  • Support daily project operations by managing time cards and change orders, coordinating equipment rentals and returns, tracking materials and deliveries, and reviewing and verifying job plans.
  • Participate in company training programs, which include on-the-job equipment and task training, in-person and classroom safety instruction, and online safety and compliance courses.
  • Perform general labor duties as required, including site cleanup, raking, digging, material handling, and equipment maintenance.
  • Assist in vehicle inspections, tool tracking, and site security.
  • Execute job-specific housekeeping tasks across indoor and outdoor work environments.
  • Maintain a professional, productive, and safe work area.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of installation and project success.

 

EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in structured cabling or low-voltage system installation.
  • Preferred three industry-recognized certifications (e.g., BICSI, CommScope, CNCI, NCTI)
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must have a valid Utah driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Reliable transportation to and from job sites required.
  • Must be able to work independently and follow technical direction.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and Level 3 background check.
  • Ability to lift up to 90 lbs. and perform repetitive physical tasks including climbing ladders and lifting overhead.
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces, on ladders, lifts, and around active construction equipment.
  • Must have a full range of physical mobility and the ability to stand or move for long periods.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and jobsite professionalism.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

  • Indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to extreme heat, cold, noise, and construction activity.
  • Must be able to work in physically demanding conditions for extended periods.
